Visitor visa (subclass 600)

For tourists, business visitors, or to visit family for 3, 6 or 12 months.

Basic eligibility: be a genuine visitor, and have enough funds to support your stay and to leave.

Streams, stay and cost:

• Tourist stream (apply outside Australia): stay up to 12 months, cost from AUD250.
• Tourist stream (apply in Australia): stay up to 12 months, cost from AUD630.
• Business visitor stream: stay up to 3 months, cost AUD250. You can make a short visit for business

visitor reasons, but you cannot work or sell goods or services.

• Sponsored family stream: stay up to 12 months, cost AUD250 - your sponsor may be asked to pay a

security bond, and must be an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

• Frequent traveller stream: granted for up to 10 years, stay up to 3 months each time you enter,

cost AUD1,845.

• Approved Destination Status stream: for citizens of the People's Republic of China (excluding

SARs) travelling with an organised tour group, and you must remain with that group.

From 1 July 2026 a lower visa cost applies to eligible Pacific Island and Timor-Leste citizens who lodge a valid visa application. Use the Visa Pricing Estimator for your own figure.
